Ready for a new theme?

We are excited to announce two new updates to Visual Studio Code for Education - light/dark theme support and an improved sharing/publishing experience.

Light/Dark Theme Support

First, we now support selecting a light or dark theme, allowing you to customize your coding environment to your preference. Whether you prefer a bright and vibrant workspace or a sleek and dark interface, the choice is yours. Stay tuned! We have accessibility support for high contrast dark and high contrast light themes in the works.

To get started, select the settings icon (the cog wheel) in the upper-right hand corner of the screen, select “Color Theme” and your preference. After making your choice, this color theme will also carry over into your project, too!

Sharing and Publishing

Second, we’ve updates to the layout of the “Share Code” and “Publish Project” experience. These enhancements make it easier than ever to collaborate with others and share your code. Sharing projects with classmates or colleagues is now more seamless, and the improved code layout ensures a more intuitive and efficient coding experience.
