Embarrassing question from a computer science teacher but I am having trouble opening the Python course .zip files on my school Macbook. What software do you recommend? I typically use the default zip archive utility with no issue but these files say they have an “unsupported format”.
No worries—those split zip files can be a bit tricky if you haven’t encountered them before. The .z01
, .z02
, etc., files are parts of a split archive, which means the original file was too large to be stored in a single .zip
file on the Forum and was split into multiple parts.
To extract these on your MacBook, you can use The Unarchiver, which is a free and popular app available on the Mac App Store. Here’s how you can use it:
- Download and Install The Unarchiver:
- Go to the Mac App Store and search for “The Unarchiver.”
- Install the app.
- Extract the Files:
- Once installed, open The Unarchiver.
- Drag and drop the
.zip
file onto The Unarchiver or right-click on the.zip
file and select Open With > The Unarchiver. - The Unarchiver will automatically detect the other parts (
.z01
,.z02
, etc.) and combine them to extract the files.
If the process doesn’t work as expected or if you encounter any issues, feel free to ask for more help!
Thank you! I will give it a try!
